Daisy was found in North St Louis with a pack of dogs. The initial exam from the intake vet on November 30, 2020, showed severe contracture of musculature esp thoracic limbs with severe atrophy, chronic neurologic or congenital musculoskeletal disease. Daisy’s assessment was that her condition will not improve, her prognosis was poor and she had a BCS (Body Condition Score) of 2 out of 9. This is when Randy’s Rescue Ranch was contacted and arrangements were made to place Daisy in our care.
Despite the severe condition of her body, Daisy was a happy girl full of love. Daisy’s mobility was literally rolling from one place to another. We contacted our local vet for a reassessment. A complete exam was done including additional x-rays. Daisy was not paralyzed which meant we were in high gear to get this girl walking.
We purchased the first physical therapy package on January 5, 2021 ($513.83 for 10 visits). We continued buying physical therapy packages over and over again. In March we noticed Daisy started “crawling” kind of like an army crawl. From what was initially deemed hopeless changed. Daisy started taking small steps. There wasn’t a dry eye at the Ranch. We still had a long way to go but the improvement was undeniable. Daisy stayed in physical therapy for 11 months. She walks a little funny but she is 100% mobile.
