Ely has one of our more “unconventional” rescue stories.

RRR headed south to rescue a pair of horses from a kill-pen. Upon our arrival we found the horses in even worse shape than we originally thought. It was heartbreaking. So we loaded them up as quickly as possible so we could hit the road and get them vet care ASAP - only this rescue came with a bonus. Ely! Poor Ely, an eleven year old chihuahua, was also starving to death on the property along with his large counterparts. He was severely emaciated and near death. So he, too, joined the transport and make his way to the ranch.

Ely was too thin to be vaccinated, so his road to recovery began with a warm bed and some healthy meals. His personality along with his weight flourished! Finally he was able to go back to the vet and get fully vetted, which sadly included a dental where he had to say good-bye to his remaining teeth due to neglect. But if you think this effected his outlook on life you are mistaken. He is an amazing attention-seeking guy soaking in all the snuggles and kisses he can get.

WANT TO HELP ELY?

Ely, like many senior pets, often find themselves discarded when their age becomes less desirable, or their health becomes an issue. But we know these pups have a lot of love left to give, and we make sure they get are well cared for and loved for the rest of their lives here at the ranch. Please consider supporting seniors like Ely.
